In most cases, homeowners usually don’t know where their energy loss may be coming from. That’s where having a Blower Door Test and/or Thermal Imaging can help in locating the anomalies that lie deep within the structure. Many of the anomalies that are found, are usually from damaged, non existing or poor insulation in the walls and attic space, poorly performing windows and doors such as the air tightness that surrounds them.
When these tests are performed we are looking for air infiltration (air getting into the house) and Exfiltration (air escaping from the house). These test’s can be performed with results that help create a modification plan and sometimes it can be something as simple as caulking or replacing insulation. Many times, making some of these simple repairs or modifications can eliminate an unusually high gas or electric bill. Many times, the material cost may be at the price of a tube of caulk or roll of insulation. However, the only way to find out what problems lurk behind your walls and insulation is to dig a little deeper and that’s exactly what we do.
